The Lawn Bowls Club
PLEASE NOTE: Canberra Club Ltd does not have bowling greens.
The Canberra Club Turf Bowlers, the "Turfies", is an internal members social bowling group.
Games played in the Canberra region include social games amongst our members at Canberra City, an annual game against the Past President's Association at Canberra North, and an annual game against Yowani Travelling Bowlers at Yowani. Other games are proposed against Yass and Braidwood.
The highlight of the year is our participation in the annual Tattersall's Carnival, played in April over 3 days at a different venue throughout Australia. All States and Singapore are represented at the Carnival. Traditionally a Day at the Races is incorporated into the Carnival program.
At least two trips are included in our calendar. These include a 3 night visit in September to the South Coast staying at Greenwell Point and playing at 4 or 5 bowling clubs in the region. Our other trip is a 2 night journey inland in May. Most recently we went to Temora, West Wyalong and Ungarie. Next year we are planning to go to the Riverina.
These trips represent excellent value and are becoming so popular that numbers may have to be limited in the future.
Our year also features a number of social functions including a mid-year BBQ at Yerabi Ponds and our fabulous "Greek Night".
Major functions at the Canberra Club are a dinner after our AGM in October and a Christmas dinner in December. Both include top quality meals in a great social environment.
Should you wish to become a member of the "Turfies" please contact us with your details and we will have a member of the bowls club contact you.
